We are looking for people with ideas for innovative projects that will challenge negative attitudes about people with mental health problems where they live. If you want to tackle discrimination in a positive way, we want to enable you to put your plans into action.

Keeping you informed
We'll be producing a regular newsletter and email updates on what's going on in Moving People, including future involvement opportunities and project news. This will be one of the best ways to stay up to date with what's happening in all elements of the Moving People campaign. To be kept informed about Moving People and updated Email your contact details to info@movingpeople.org.uk. (As always, we promise not to share your details with anyone outside Moving People.)
Consultation
It's very important to us that everyone with an interest in Moving People - particularly people with experience of mental distress - has a say in how it looks, and what its key messages are. Moving People is an interim identity, while we find out what everyone thinks the permanent brand and anti-stigma social marketing campaign should look like. Consultation will take place by post and at local events across England.
This project will see people with experience of mental distress trained to teach key audiences, such as trainee teachers and medical students, about stigma and distress. You will raise awareness of what it means to live with a diagnosis through talking about your experiences. Your work will make a direct contribution to breaking down stigma. You will receive comprehensive training, ongoing support, payment and expenses. Find out more about how to get involved in the Targeted anti-stigma work.
Open up
Open Up brings together people with experience of mental health problems to tackle discrimination in their own communities. Open Up activists are trained in anti-discrimination tools and techniques, such as legal rights, how to run a succesful local campaign, effective strategies and messages, and what's worked elsewhere. Funding through Moving People will allow Open Up to train more activists across England. To be kept informed about Moving People Open Up project email your contact details to info@movingpeople.org.uk writing that you wish to be kept informed about Open up in your email copy.
Get Moving!
Get Moving! will be an annual event where we encourage everyone to take part in some physical activity to benefit their mental and physical health. Could you pledge to take part in some activity for this event? Whether it's a walk in the park, or a trek on the treadmill - it's taking part that counts. We'll have events across England, or you can pledge to do something by yourself or with a friend. To be kept informed about Moving People Get Moving event email your contact details to info@movingpeople.org.uk writing that you wish to be kept informed about Get Moving in your email copy.
User and Carer Advisory Group
We are looking for people with experience of mental health problems, and their carers, to be part of the Moving People User and Carer Advisory Group over the next four years. The advisory group forms part of the governance of Moving People and will be crucial to ensure user and carer views are at the heart of the programme. Group members will work closely with Moving People staff, and act as ambassadors for the programme. One group member will sit and vote on the Moving People Joint Management Group.
Evaluation
Evaluation is crucial to Moving People - we need to find out what works best, and be able to show how we are making a difference. This will help inform our work and other anti-stigma work around the world. We will be providing training to enable service users to evaluate the impact that Moving People's local projects are having, and setting up regional networks of service user evaluators. To be kept informed about Moving People Get Moving evaluation work email your contact details to info@movingpeople.org.uk writing that you wish to be kept informed about the evaluation in your email copy.
